Opening ceremony of summer school "Pathophysiology of problems and diseases in public health"

The Department of Biotechnology of University of Rijeka, on Friday, 14.06.2013.,opened the summer school "Pathophysiology of problems and diseases in public health" - "capestone course" organized by the Department and St. Claude State University of Minnesota, USA. This exceptional way of collaboration between the two Universities was opened by the rector of the University of Rijeka, prof. dr. Pero Lučin.
ERA Chair BIONAP project proposal within the FP 7 finalized and approved

Project „Reinforcement of research capacities of University of Rijeka Department of Biotechnology for natural products-based anticancer drug discovery“ has been sent to the European Research Council. Participating in the project are 9 institutions from Croatia, Spain, Italy, Austria, The Netherlands and Slovenia. The coordinating institution is the Department of Biotechnology in RIjeka.
Student Gala Grba received the Rector's award for excellence

On the 16th of April 2013, the Senat of the University of Rijeka presented the Rector's Award of the University of Rijeka for excellence in the academic year 2012/2013 to Gala Grba, a student of the Department of Biotechnology

Marie Curie Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways (IAPP) project „Methods for high-throughput glycoproteomic analysis“ (HTP GlycoMet) approved for financing. Coordinator of the project professor Đuro Josić, University Department of Biotechnology, Institutional partners: University of Rijeka, Max Planck Gesellshaft zur Foerderung der Wissenshaften E.V., BIA Separation and Genos. Total budged 2 million Euros.
Among the best in the world in research on Dupuytren's disease in 2012

International Dupuytren Society has ranked the Department of Biotechnology's paper Ratkaj I, Bujak M, Jurišić D, Baus Lončar M, Bendelja K, Pavelić K, Kraljević Pavelić S: Microarray analysis of Dupuytren’s disease cells: the profibrogenic role of the TGF-binducible p38 MAPK pathway. Cellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2012;30:927-942. among the best three fundamental researches published in 2012 in the world. The paper shares the second place with a paper from authors from Great Britain.
