There are more and more institutions interested in commercial research and development of drugs, and the University institutions that need an increasing number of professionals trained for research in biomedicine. Rapid changes in the system of research and drug production, and research in biomedical sciences, require new educated professionals, who fully understand the new technologies, have general knowledge and skills and basic knowledge in the study of drugs and biotechnology. Biotechnology is the most propulsive developing in the last ten years. It is closely connected to the development of science and innovation, and because of interdisciplinary applications and use of high scientific knowledge to innovation in the production of medicines and food, requires highly skilled professionals. The connection of the programme with modern scientific knowledge and/or skills based on it, can be seen in the concept of all study programmes. The study will provide knowledge and skills based on knowledge of chemistry, medicine, biotechnology, informatics etc. A special feature of these study programmes is that it combines undergraduate education, and then is divided into three graduate studies which partly may coincide with content, but as branches are greatly expanded. Undergraduate students will have enough skills to analyze the data in research, to collect statistical information on which the research is based, knowledge of methods and techniques in biotechnology, to control the circulation of research documents and other information. As a graduate master's degree holders, except that they will be able to continue to educate the III degree - doctoral studies, they will be responsible in making decisions and in daily activities. Possible places of employment are: the pharmaceutical industry, the research jobs in health care, university departments, and other educational and research institutions and research centers. This study concept would be fully open to students for the first time in our country. Knowledge and skills acquired in undergraduate studies enable them to move to several graduate studies in Croatia and other countries, and graduate studies are able to accept students from other undergraduate programs in the country.
