SCIENTIFIC team of the Laboratory for Advanced Genomics of the Ruđer Bošković Institute (RBI), led by dr.sc. Oliver Vugrek, identified the presence of a new mutation in SARS-CoV-2 in Croatia. It is a mutation that can be characteristic of the Brazilian, but also the South African variant of the coronavirus, but only detailed analyzes of the entire genome will confirm which strain of the virus it is. The main researcher of the latest SARS-CoV-2 analysis is Filip Rokić, a doctoral student in Medical Chemistry at the Department of Biotechnology, who also participated in the first sequencing of the SARS-CoV-2 genome in Croatia. Good work, Filip!
