Contract signed for a grant for projects financed from the European Social Fund as part of the Human Resource Development program. "To improve the evaluation process of the program at the University of Rijeka: a pilot project". The bulk of funds of 1,808.376.82 kuna will be used for the improvement of teaching at the Deparment of Biotechnology. 

Croatian Science Association project granted: "The role of noncoding RNA in regulation of herpes simplex virus 1 latency", leader: doc.dr.sc. Igor Jurak

Croatian proteomics association

Croatian proteomics association, based at the University of Rijeka, was founded. Prof. Jasna Peter Katalinić was chosen for president, and prof. Đuro Josić for secretary. The association has been accepted into the European proteomics association.
